Just Being by Kim Christie
I wrote this for my the love of my life.
Just a simple ditty without too much fuss and bother.
Featuring Gregg (Suedepudding) on bass and drums and Stephen Lancaster on guitar. Thanks, boys!

pretty southern rock sounding intro ... a bit confusing once the lady starts singing cus she's just a little bit classier than the music behind her. making the whole deal seem just a little like a paradox in motion. which I sorta like ...
drums kicking, large in the mix and pretty hard driving. best bit of the drums really tho are the hats and cymbals. odd I know but they are probably the key to the rhythm section solidarity. speaking of the R-word, the bass holds it's own and is probably what holds the basis of the chord structure for the vocal line as well. which isn't a bad idea - especially as the guitars are mostly color and flavor throughout the song. even in the simple sections where it's just a picked axe here and a chunk and hold there. the fact that the guitars do lay back and take it pretty easy is what glues the vocals to the instrumental bed. if the boys in the band had decided to really rock it out skynard style, it would have been a discovery not really lauded. good choices.
laid back - melodic blues based lead guitar action is pretty standard yet enjoyable. nice job of outro-iing of the solo territory with the ahhhhs vox as well.
as I had mentioned, the lady singing shows a certain class and it's obvious she likes to use more than 5 notes in her delivery ... and tho the lows in the melody seemed like they were a bit of a struggle, she did somehow pull 'em down. still - something about the melody, tho inventive - was a little uncomfortable here and there. hard to pinpoint, maybe like she was a tad underwhelmed with her own idea. a little more conviction in some way - maybe even in voice grit ... not that a love lyric like this would want to be joplin'd up too far - but it does sound at times like the part was sorta treated a bit too commonly. that same thought crosses my mind regarding the backign vocals - as if there was a bit of unsurety surrounding the song.
interesting lyrical display though - hadn't really thought about it but the whole concept seems pretty new even though it probably isn't. a humble sort of homage and a confident appraisal of feelings when in reality, the vulnerability is right there to be abused. brave concept. even baring that sould to yourself can probably be scary.
all in all, I like it on a guttural level more than I do on a technical one. I like it's intent more than I like it practice. highly personal but given in pure hope of the favor being returned. tough to say these things out loud sometimes and that deserves high praise.
can't help but still feel that it's a little less than a tight fitting summer dress. more an eclectic yet attractive outfit than something a woman who cares about image would wear. this lady likes to show her soul but doesn't want to flaunt it. an interesting and quirky musical fashion statement.
I like it. I don't think I should. I don't feel like it's the most flattering of attire but I sure as hell like that she is wearing it anyway.
Do you know I loved you
Without hesitation
With only possibility
We may not have much
It’s more than enough
The ultimate prosperity is
Just being the one you love
And they wondered what would we do
To pull it through
Well, I knew I’d be happy
Just being the one you love
And I would sleep a hundred years to wake up with your kiss
The jewel of your journey to my door
And every step I ever took has led me to
Just being the one you love
They ask us what will we do
To keep shining through
I say it’s keeping me happy
Just being the one you love.
