When the church is cold, the sermon seems longer.
This is some bloke reading a poem with some music going on underneath. What I would say to this bloke is that it'd be better to leave the drums out because the words have a percussion all of their own and the two close together are quite clearly clashing. Add to that the drums missing the rhythms of the keys and it's all very difficult.
I guess that's the 'Alternative' thing.
I'm okay with the lone piper because he's able to make rings around the words and create some kind of emotional background. The ear naturally favours the instrument and mostly ignores the voice, particularly as it is rather monotonous. On listen # 3 I try to concentrate on the words and decide that they're quietly pretentious and don't experiment with language enough to make an impression. I'm just not feeling a love of language, and yet this is surely the mainstay of the song.
I want to be impressed.
We create to express what is within, and frequently to avoid insanity. However, it's not always possible to get people to understand. If you happen to touch them, they just might. On this one, I am untouched.
